So it’s the time of year when New Years Resolutions are fading and we’re getting back into work and school routines and LIFE….
We’re most likely realising that all those grandiose and idealized goals and plans we had for our health, energy, weight and wellbeing are a tad unmanageable amongst the EVERYTHING else we have to do everyday, & perhaps we are slowly sliding back to old habits?
Don’t despair if this IS the case!
These 5 Health Tips are EASY things you CAN work on doing each and every day and as they become part of your usual daily habits, you’ll RADIATE Health effortlessly!
PROMISE!
1) BREATHE: Yes. Just BREATHE. Even 5 minutes a day makes a drastic and significant difference to my clients health, energy, weight and well-being. Conscious breathing helps to stabilize hormones, rebalance stress chemistry, and assists optimal metabolism and digestion.
If you’re not breathing right, you’re missing one of the essential ingredients in being optimally healthy. I encourage my clients to lay down on their backs for five minutes a day with their legs up to encourage diaphragmatic breathing which is a total game changer!
2) Track your cycle with an app: I use a period tracker app (I recommend that you try this one) for my cycle so I can monitor it’s patterns. This enables me to get a sense of what my hormones love in terms of diet, stress levels, exercise patterns and other lifestyle habits. There are options for tracking your mood, symptoms, weight, medications, intimacy, and temperature.
Getting to know your body is an essential element in living a long-term healthy lifestyle, and apps such as this really assist in creating a connection with your body.
3) Drink more than 3 litres of water each day: We are composed of 55-75% water so, if we’re not drinking enough it’s logical we’ll feel sluggish, foggy, lethargic, and blocked. Water keeps everything flowing and flushed as it should be and is an absolute fundamental in all the work I do with clients.
Wake up and start the day with at least 300ml of water. Studies show that it’s more effective in waking you up than coffee!
Build slowly, however DO work towards that magical 3 litre mark.
4) Refuse to Stress: Stress undermines and counters any efforts you make towards being more healthy. It unbalances hormones and spikes cortisol.
Yes we’re busy, yes stuff happens, however if you choose to breathe, and stay present and calm amongst the challenges, your health, weight, energy and vitality will be significantly improved.
I tell my clients, “Stress is not your friend” and “Keep calm always”. Two of my favourite mantra’s!
5) Eat Yo Greens: Green veggies cleanse the blood and the gut. Their phytonutrients and fibre act as internal cleansers that help your body remove anything that is hindering an optimal internal state.
Broccoli is one of the best green veggies you can eat, however, mix it up and choose Asian greens, leafy greens, and other cruciferous varieties such as brussels sprouts.
Aim to get these in every NIGHT and possibly at lunch or a snack during the day!
