Find Your Abundance
Abundance – meaning “fullness or benevolence: from the abundance of my heart”
What a beautiful word conveying warmth and excess but not shallowness or greed. It can apply to your feelings, your lust for life, your pride in others, gratitude to another, gratitude to the universe, or appreciation of a moment in time. Or it could be an abundance of sensory experiences as I enjoyed today.
Starting with a photo session at Point Cartwright where the colours of this mornings winter sunrise outdid even yesterday’s bounty due to an overnight cold snap and southerly winds. The vibrancy of the colours as the sun rose over the ocean was in contrast to the pinkish hues over the coastline when you had your back to the east. Photo worshippers were gathered in solidarity practicing patience for the unfolding scene knowing it was going to eventuate, but not sure exactly what Mother Nature had in store today.
While there I ran into a great girl I haven’t known for too long but she is a cracker and going through major angst in her personal life so she was pumping out the k’s to offer her anger to the exercise Gods. We parted ways, chilly but excited at the serendipity of the meeting as we had wanted to exchange thoughts and encouragement to each other.
After grabbing 1/2 a cow for dinner at my fave IGA – opens at 6 and free coffee with a $50 spend and awesome staff – no paid endorsements here – I shot home to stand under a hot shower for a very long time and marvelled at the luxury that is hot running water.
Streaky bacon, locally grown tomatoes and local Mountainview Eggs into the pan, splattered with sea salt and cracked pepper, a perfect avocado, wholemeal toast and a strong pot of tea completed my taste sensations for the morning.
Wanting to make use of a few home grown passionfruit and lemons my parents had brought when they visited, I jumped online and cooked an old fave from years ago – Passionfruit Slice. Oh my GOODNESS – it still tastes the same! Flavour sensation and so easy.
A Sunday nap while the southerly breezes kept the day at a chilly 16 ……it’s cold for this region….. were followed by a visit to my fave “green grocer”, Erbachers at Bli Bli, to collect some further goodies to cook with the 1/2 cow for dinner. For a meagre $35 we have the weeks root veges, fruit, green veges and some dairy.
Then slow baked seasoned Blade Roast, pumpkin, potato, sweet potato, beans, broccoli, carrot, sour cream and gravy in our warm home – with all safe and sound, fed and warm and two boys exhausted from sport and work.
So all my senses were on high alert today. My eyes took in amazing vistas of Sunrise overlooking the Pacific Ocean. My taste buds were treated to such divine gustatory experiences – especially that Passionfruit Slice – heavenly. The aroma of frying bacon on a Sunday morning and slow cooking roast dinner in the evening won over my sense of smell. My tactile needs were met by a hot shower and a nap in my warm cosy bed during the southerly winds. And sound? Beautiful silence, nothing but my own thoughts – what a luxury indeed! A beautiful day – and so fulfilling in so many ways.
What’s your abundance? What do you consider abundant in your life? Do you recognise abundance? Is there enough gratitude for the abundance in our lives? Would love to hear your thoughts. xx
