One of the talented and fabulous designers showing her designs on the catwalk on International Women’s Day at Ladies Day 2020 at Rainbow Beach is Natalie Ing.

Sunshine Coast designer, Natalie Ing, cannot suppress her creative streak.  Beginning her career in the early Summer of 1992, she began by creating one off hand painted jeans for “Totally Twisted”, the wildest shop in her not so radical home town of Bundaberg. Natalie was just 15 years old, when the store owner spotted Natalie’s own pair, handed her 8 pairs of Levis to paint for the shop.

Jeans led to t-shirts and singlets and Natalie’s own label at the time, Splat, selling her hand painted clothing at markets and festivals all over Queensland, and from Darwin to Phillip Island, Victoria.

While Natalie was studying to become a sonographer at University in Brisbane, she was asked to be part of a women’s exhibition in the Blue Mountains and set about painting some canvases, only to discover she missed the feel and texture of painting on denim. This inspired her to make her own denim canvases and boards to showcase her art – and has grown to become the unique signature of Cymbeline Art, today.

Making a return to clothing as art at the Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival in 2015, Natalie experienced another surge forward in her creativity. While her one off denim pieces met artistic critical acclaim, her jeans, t-shirts and skirts were quickly snapped up by festival goers and collectors alike.

Natalie is currently passionate about wood as her canvas but will return to the fashion runway with a limited selection of clothing at the International Women’s Day Festival in Rainbow Beach on March 8. You can find more of her work on Instagram at @natcym
