Well that one flew past – my first week back since the dreaded Influenza A virus. Glad to have my health back and increased energy levels.

Also a big week of learning and trying new things  in the food arena. Interesting that now I’m searching out different sites on Instagram to fuel my health food fix. Such clever talented people out there using a handful of ingredients to make fantastic tasting meal – I’m in awe. I didn’t know what an acai bowl was – its just either frozen or powdered acai Berries made into a smoothie with a topping of fruit and muesli or nuts – but its the variations that made it exciting. You can add whatever you like and I love Acai Brothers at Mooloolaba as that is their focus and there are so many different versions – its just opposite the Mooloolaba Surf Club – others are fabulous but I just like the variety.

I’m building up a great pantry of new staples which look so different to previous – maca powder, chia seeds, almond paste, coconut milk and oil,  linseeds, chick peas, salmon, tahini, goji berries, dates, cacao, plus an ever increasing range of herbs and spices and I love it! There’s always baskets of fresh fruit and a fridge of fresh salad and veges and the good thing is it is not hard or expensive.  I have no doubt at all that this is how I’ll live my future life.

I can notice the difference in my body now so I’m a bit excited! 10 kilos is a lot of weight to lose – oh yes I am 10 kilos down this morning at weigh in,  and it has been fun. I still have 30kg to go to be at my best weight for my health, but this is just a great fun journey of discovery. I feel powerful in mind and body and feel great satisfaction on a daily basis. I was wanting something the other night so made a cacao, frozen banana, almond paste, date, water, blueberry and strawberry smoothie – it was perfect and hit the spot.

Week 7 Health WomensHQ

I am learning about my body and learning that when you’re hungry, you eat something wholesome, and it feels good – no bloating, no shame, just good. By keeping my water intake up its like oil in an engine – it runs better and now I know when I haven’t had enough.

The pleasure and anticipation of a fresh fruit salad, green salad or Acai bowl is something that I never thought I would experience. I didn’t ‘get’ it before – people had told me how good they felt but I just couldn’t understand how big the impact would be. I don’t feel as if I’m missing out at all – I feel as if I have found a real passion as there is so much to learn.

Week 7 Health WomensHQ

I splurged on Saturday night, we were heading home from footy but were going to grab an Acai bowl on the way – instead we turned left and had wine and pizza ……I know ‘how could this happen?’ It’s called the devil on the shoulder saying go on, it’ll be fun…..Well, my body didn’t like it at all. I mentally didn’t like it. And I should have turned right – but then I wouldn’t have had the chance to see how much my body had changed and what it couldn’t tolerate for now. One glass of red for its antioxidant properties will have to do for a while. (oh look wine!)

Week 7 health Womens HQ

Anyhow, back on the wagon and another box of goodies today – salads, fruits, additives, and the week’s banana supply from my local.

This week I’m going to do soups and salads with lots of pumpkin. I’ll keep up the same brekkies which still do the trick – just oats and I’ll mix up the fruits each day. And I’m going to add walking and sit ups again which I stopped when I got sick, plus I caught sight of my tuck shop arms so going to have to work on them.

Week 7 - Health WomensHQ

So lots of movement and high vitamin meals on the agenda and trying out some new recipes which I’ll pop up next week.

Quickee today – see you next week! Week 8!
