What is it about women in particular, but some men as well, that we so desperately want to believe the sentiment of our new partners that we are loved by them like they have loved no other, that all those that came before us didn’t understand them the way we do, love them as passionately as we do. We all hear these words and a little part of us thinks “I’m sure this person has used these words before”! Yet we dismiss this and cling on to it like a raft, until we hear that the person after us has just been told the very same thing we were, and all those that came before us. Let’s not just take these words at face value but get the speaker to actually put into action the sentiments and not bandy the words around as if just a dishonest game to gain what we are really after.
