I’m pleased to say my new lifestyle, after 10 weeks, is now starting to become a part of my life. I love it, I feel good, I feel on top of things and alive. I haven’t needed any distractive food or drink this week and have been doing lots of reading about good fresh real food, their properties and recipes. I am so lucky to have such a fantastic healthy food shop so close where the fresh food is always first class, ripe and ready to eat – I did my weekly shop and it was $75 – add to that the meat for the family at $70 and I am saving so much money too! I also get my milk and often my bread there too so the run to the supermarket is very much reduced. This week I got some fresh beets, watercress and fresh chick peas to try.
It’s such a fantastic industry – raw food – healthy food and so many articulate, qualified, passionate people out there teaching the rest of us. Saturday morning I Nutri-Bulleted up a huge silver-beet leaf, one carrot, a thumb of ginger and 1/2 small Lebanese cucumber with water and ice and it was so refreshing – looked a bit gungy so I have work to do on the blending I think.
For lunch I enjoyed a fabulous Acai bowl from B Fresh on the Sunny Coast and it was too filling to be honest but always hits the spot. The best thing about choosing these changes to my health at this time is that there is so many places you can learn and enjoy. The Sunny Coast is health and fitness Central so there is plenty motivation for you here – there are insanely healthy people here which is perfect for inspiration – as long as you are being healthy…if you’re not it’s dreadful.
We have had crock pots every night this week with 7 or 8 Veges each pot and and a smaller serve of meat and that has been great. It’s been rainy so they were fantastic each night arriving home late. Just chicken and veg, mince and veg, chicken breast curry with veg and even curried sausage and vege which I had a little bit of too. It’s probably not as good as my salmon and steamed veg which I’ll get back to this week but I’m still getting all the nutrients I need for health and a small serve is all I need.
Brekkie has been the same – oats and fruit each day -or my week-end Acai Bowls – my treat. It’s all you need all days really until an early dinner. There’s just something about them. I have a free eBook on the Acai Bowl ready to upload onto the website for you so keep an eye out for it – I get asked a lot about them and they are so easy I thought I’d write a little book with all the info I know – which is10 weeks worth.
This week I started on salads for lunch but as the rain increased I changed to an Avocado a day on Ryvita with lots of cracked pepper and salt – it’s what I felt like and it did the trick. I always have some almonds, medjool dates or an apple in case I get hungry and my water.
I have had lots of tea but didn’t have even one coffee last week. I have gone from one cappuccino a day minimum to zero per week. No wine this week which is pretty mature of me. I’m going away at the end of this week so that will require a few red wines so I’m saving up for that. I met a friend at a coffee shop and all the way I’m thinking I don’t want a coffee, what will I have, I guess I’ll have a tea, what sort of tea…and this is what I had – a gorgeous Spiced Apple Steamer with Apple, Turmeric and Ginger from my local Hamptons Espresso – just amazing.
I do miss one thing – potato chips – it’s the crunch only – I could have them if I wanted to but there is no goodness whatsoever so I’ve got some Kale to bake – I somehow don’t think it will be similar….and I’m loving raw almonds …..but will find a better substitute as I go – I have seen some broccoli chips at the health shops maybe I’ll give them a try….or I do love sweet potato thins done in the oven.
Still, the #1 priority for me is to make sure I don’t get hungry and be prepared at the start of each week. Have lots of great fresh fruit, veggies and salad on hand, plus nuts, seeds and dried fruit. If I get hungry I used to panic – from old bad habits – so now I just have something like a few nuts and I’m fine and the water helps too. Just takes the pressure off completely but I find the hungrier I get – the less healthy the choice I make as I think we all do.
So, just weighed in and another kilo down so that’s a little more than 11.5kg since I started and I’m pretty happy with that result. I’m eating lots, I’m learning lots, I’m losing weight while I go and I’m feeling good so I am pretty happy with my little guru Bridget for getting me on this road and for all her wonderful advice and insights.
So, till next week Ladies xx
